A renowned brand of
instant film cameras and digital cameras, Polaroid forays into the exciting
market of smart mobile devices by introducing its own arsenal of Android-based
smartphones and tablets. Harnessing its expertise in consumer electronics,
Polaroid introduces the Executive 9.7 for its tablet portfolio and the PROG160
for its smartphone lineup.
As what its moniker
suggests, the new tablet which was first seen at Consumer Electronics Show
(CES) in Las Vegas sports a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen. With multitouch
feature, users can fluidly play new games and work on different applications
through a variety of hand gestures with the Executive 9.7. Adding to the
usability of the tablet, it also comes with a keyboard which brings to users
the feel of a true notebook for increased maneuverability and enhanced
productivity. Running the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system, the
Executive 9.7 is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB DDR3
RAM, allowing for fast loading of applications, speedy Internet browsing, and
long battery life. In terms of storage, Polaroid loaded the Executive 9.7 with
4GB internal memory which can be expanded to 32GB through the tablet’s microSD
slot. In spite of its ultrathin frame of 9.8m, the Executive 9.7 does not come
up short in terms of connectivity. Equipped with a USB port, the tablet allows
for connectivity with flash drives, portable hard drives, and 3G dongles for
wireless connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi. The built-in HDMI enables users to
connect the tablet to an HDTV or a projector, enabling them to view HD movies,
play games, or present office files on a large screen. Completing the
multimedia experience is the 3.5mm audio jack that lets you hook up the tablet
to a powerful speaker system. Featuring a dual camera system, the Executive 9.7
captures brilliant images with its main camera and supports video calls with is
front-facing camera.
Meanwhile, the Polaroid
PROG160 is a 5-inch smartphone that comes with a capacitive touchscreen
display. It ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS that works smoothly
with its 1GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. The dual SIM feature of
this phone lets the user have personal and work information isolated from each
other on a single device and without the need for another smartphone. It offers
a hassle-free way to stay connected to the web through Wi-Fi or 3G. The
5-megapixel rear camera can take crisp and vivid images while the front-facing
camera allows face-to-face communication via video calls. For entertainment
use, the PROG160 has a built-in FM radio, and can play MP3 and MP4 multimedia
content.
