Male and female skaters here and abroad dashes and skated their
way through the snowy and cold Ice Skating Rink in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay
City to compete for the National Figure Skating Championship where they battled it out on the ice floor to gain
the much coveted championship prize and get a chance to represent our country in
various
skating competitions abroad.

In the actual competition that lasted for two days,
44 skaters from different divisions have joined. And on the final day of the tournament; a Filipina named Melissa
Bulanhagui from Colorado USA won the championship title in the senior women’s
division while Zhaira Costiniano a 15 year old from Dallas Texas placed second.
In the men’s senior division, the unexpected happened when the crowds favorite
Michael Martinez wasn’t able to get the top spot and only placed third; a 22
year old Filipino skater from San Diego California USA grabbed the top spot and
the second spot went Maverick Clint Eguia; a 20 year old young Filipino guy who
lives in California USA. And the 3rd spot went to Michael Martinez
who many thought will win the tournament because of his outstanding performances
in the past that ranked him 10th in the world by the International
Skating Union.
