Fresh from winning the second spot in the
prestigious Miss Universe pageant; Ms. Janine Tugonon, a 23-year-old licensed
pharmacist from Orion Bataan bested almost a hundred other candidates from
different parts of the globe for her outstanding performance particularly in
the question and answer portion that both the judges and the viewers took
notice of. With so much eagerness to see this young Filipina, local and foreign
media together with her well wishers flocked to both Janine’s departure at the US airport and her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport where the whole attention and attractions of the nation draws to her.
Shortly after her arrival in the Philippines,
Binibining Pilipinas prepared a press conference for Ms. Janine Tugonon where she
answered a lot of questions thrown at her by the reporters and one of her
answers that caught the attention of many is when she was asked what are her
preparations she made before the pageant—she said that prior to the event … she
read a lot of her notes and practice a lot, and that to her played a big part
in answering the question raised to her by the Nigel Barker.
With this another milestone that our fellow Filipina
has earned and accomplished in the international pageant scene just like what other
Filipinas has made in the past—surely our country is continuously making a mark
in the world of pageantry, thus, making us proud that we are a Filipino.
