CHILDREN OF DUMAGAT TRIBE VISITS NIDO FORTIFIED SCIENCE CENTER

Tribes
in the Philippines just as in any other places in the world are becoming extinct and being neglected to the extent that many of them are dying with no apparent reason, but that is a thing of the past in the Philippines as both private sectors and the government are joining hands to uplift the lives of our tribes people and making a significant effort in recognizing and supporting different tribes in our country.

Children of Dumagat tribe in Rizal as they pose in front of the replica of the world’s biggest crocodile in the world named “Lolong” during their recent visit at the Nido Fortified Science Center in SM Mall of Asia with the help of De La Salle University in Dasmarinas Cavite and SM Entertainment Group.

And as part of this effort, the Department of Education and De La Salle University Zobel partnered together in educating the men and women of Dumagat tribe; both young and old in teaching them how to read, write and even some lessons in livelihood.

As their effort progresses, De la Salle University Zobel even went further as it brought the people of this tribe both young and old in Nido Fortified Science Center to educate them the basics of life that has to do with science. As I personally joined this tribe as they visit every area of the center, I noticed their hunger for knowledge as the lecturer explained to them one by one the basics of life like the process of a birth of a baby, the history or writings, the basics of picture taking, the wisdom behind a telephone and many others.
