Meralco recently announces its partnership
program with the Department of Tourism headed by Sec. Mon Jimenez and other
Local Government Units (LGU) in taking part in the campaign “Maliwanag Ang Pasko”
where every city, barangay and Filipino can be a part of this Christmas campaign.
During its partnership announcement, Meralco
President; Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan, Secretary Jimenez and Mayors from different municipalities of Taguig, Pateros, Pasig,
Rizal, Pasay, Antipolo, Cavite and as far as Bulacan; took part
in signing the partnership agreement signifying their interest and
participation in the said program. Mayors and their respective officers graced
the event where both T V, print and online media witnessed the said occasion.
This is the 6th year that Meralco is implementing this program which aims to help our countrymen especially the kids
belonging to the poorest of the poor in order for them to have a better education. Last year, Meralco provided books, T V monitors and DVD’s to some schools
in Batangas in order for the students to have a better education and have a brighter future. And this time, Meralco aims to send 1,000 kids to
school and provide them with their needs.
In view of this program, LGU and other commercial establishments are expected
to establish their own Liwanag Parks where the public can enjoy the place with their friends and families. And for individuals like you
and me, we can be a part of this campaign by lighting up our homes and take
pictures of it and send it to
maliwanagangpasko@meralco.com.ph.
And by doing so, we are helping the underprivileged
children to have a brighter and better future.
