WE ARE THE WORLD FOR HAITI

“History repeats itself” This saying came to pass when the charity single ‘We Are The World’ originally recorded by the group “USA for Africa” in 1985, written by the late king of pop Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartians was given a remake by the new breed of singers, as they gathered together to lend their talents to help raise funds to give aid to the victims of the devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 in the richter scale that hit Haiti recently.

The timing couldn’t be better or was it just a coincidence? This is the question that lingers in the minds of the producers of this event, when they originally planned their ‘We Are the World’ 25th anniversary celebration with something else. But when the Haiti earthquake happened, the whole scope of the plan changed.

“It’s no accident that this thing happened. COINCIDENCE is God’s way of remaining anonymous.” Quincy Jones said, during his TV interview.

With their generosity displayed, over 80 of the biggest stars in the music industry in Hip Hop, RnB, Pop, Country, Rock etc., set aside their differences and put their hands together for this worthy cause, when they all flocked at Henson Recording Studio the day after the Grammy Awards Night in Los Angeles, California USA was held, the same place where the song “We Are the World” was originally recorded.

Singers Natalie Cole, Kanye West, Pink, Celine Dion, Jenifer Hudson, Barbara Streissand, Brian Wilson, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Josh Groban, Akon, Tony Bennett, Carlos Santana, Trey Songz, Drake, T-Pain, Keri Hilson, Brandy, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Busta Rhymes, Nicole Schezinger, Tony Braxton, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, Jonas brothers, Julianne Hough, Justin Bieber, Usher, Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean, and dozens more, selflessly shared their time and talent for the cause of helping the earthquake victims in Haiti.
