The
first ever ISU World Development Trophy to be held outside Europe will be assembled
in the Philippines, the first in Asia. The competition will be organized at the
SM International Ice Skating Rink, Mall of Asia to be participated by 11
various countries around the globe.
The ISU World
Development Trophy 2013 is the first figure skating competition that features
top-figure skaters in the world from countries who are a member of the
International Skating Union (ISU) that has limited level of activity in various
ISU sports disciplines. Said competition has the objective of providing an incentive
to ISU members, encouraging further involvement in the ISU sports discipline
which aims to further the competence of each country specifically in Figure
Skating (Ice Dance) and Short Track Speed Skating.
The
event will include a training camp from April 16-19 which will provide an
intensive development program to prepare all contenders for the competition
proper to be held on April 20. The competition will be vied by 60 competent
figure ice skaters from Argentina, Grenada, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, New
Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
The
Philippine Skating Union (PSU), the local counterpart of ISU in the country,
together with SM Ice Skating Rink will host the competition which
will highlight the skill and forte of the contenders in figure skating. Watch
as 60 international figure skaters compete for their countries pride in the
first ever 2013ISU World Development Trophy in Asia.
