During the
opening of the Liwanag Park, Meralco officers treated their guests with some
musicale number from the Mandaluyong Children chorale and Meralco chorale while the guest
are feasting on the sumptuous food prepared for them. There were turon, pancit,
bibingka and a lot more that made us feel that Christmas is just around the
corner. What makes it more like Christmas is in the air already are the things you see around the place like the shining
Christmas lights, towering Christmas trees, sparkling parols, there were also light displays and attractions like
Christmas figures made of scrap copper wire, a mini train that the public can
ride, a Toy Town and a bazaar and and many others… it just
made the atmosphere more like the spirit of Christmas is here already.

As the program
unfolds, Meralco officers headed by Mr. Manny Pangilinan together with the
Department of Tourism representative welcomed all the guest and the
participants of the lighting ceremony. It was also during this time that they
announced that Meralco will be giving away a prize of P5,000 that will be given on a daily basis from the
period of December 1-22 to the chosen individual who will be joining the "Maliwanag Ang Pasko" contest. And
in return, Meralco will be providing lights to some remote islands of the
Philippines where there are no electricity yet, as part of its Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) program that aims to improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos.
