“It worth all my strike”, this could be in the mind
of Christopher Soon; the winner of the just concluded 11th SM
Bowling Cup Tournament championships as he was able to put down the highest
number of pins, and by doing so, he
was able to bring home the new Chevrolet Orlando. A businessman by profession,
Christopher Soon bested thirty two (32) bowling finalist that came all the way
from Davao, Cebu and Metro Manila.
During the final moments of the game, Christopher
Soon coming out strong and garnered the most number of points in the
preliminary round faced Gefphil John Buyco, a 15 year old 3rd year
student of St. Louie College in Consolacion Cebu battled each other on the
bowling floor for that top spot.
In the course of the final game between Christopher
Soon and Gefphil John Buyco; the inexplicable
happened, this is when Gefphil’s dream is within his reach when all of a sudden
it was snapped out due to a pain in his left arm that prevented him to play the
style he used to play in the previous round of the tournament that landed him
only at the 2nd place. Though, Gefphil did not make it to the top
spot, he was able to bring home P100,000; enough to help him finish his high
school education and help his parents even in a little way.
To complete our roster of winners, Alexander Y. Ngoi
Jr., a bowler from Caloocan representing SM North having a score of 168 in his
final game placed 3rd while Christopher and Gefphil scored 213
and184 respectively.
This is the 3rd time that SM Bowling Cup
held its national tournament for this year and its becoming bigger and grander
every year. During its first and second tournament, the grand champions brought
home a brand new Chevrolet Sparks and Chevrolet Cruze and now on its final
tournament, the grand champion brought home a brand new Chevrolet Orlando.
