Lenovo Launches New PCs to Power Consumers, Small-Medium Businesses and Enterprises

Lenovo, the second largest PC maker in the world recently unveiled its latest and top of the line series of laptop and PCs in different key areas around the globe. And here in the Philippines, Lenovo launched its newest laptop and PC at the PICC Forum where hundreds of attendees including the online and print media community together with Lenovo's business partners and guests graced the long-awaited techie event of the year.

Prominent speakers from Lenovo’s partners Microsoft and Intel shared their expertise and talks about their continued growth and partnership with Lenovo. Mr. Ricky Banaag, Intel’s General Manager talks about the 3^rd generation of Intel core processor i3, i5 and i7 that maximizes the system efficiency of Lenovo’s laptop and PC. Another speaker is Microsoft Program Specialist; Ms. Geraldine Marquez who speaks of Microsoft newest technology that is embedded in Lenovo’s line up of laptop and PC where the users will experience a faster and a rapid boot performance during the start up procedure in the computer. 

The highlight of the event comes in when the models strutted the runway displaying the Lenovo’s new line up of laptop and PCs that includes Ultrabooks, all-in-one desktops and both business and consumer multimedia PCs that is powered by Intel 3^rd Generation of Intel Core processors.

SUMMERSKATE 2012

                                                              

  On its 12^th year, Summerskate held its National Ice Skating Competition at the International Ice Skating rink in SM Mall of Asia where hundreds of ice-loving, skater-skilled youngsters joined and drove through the smoking cold ice with their ice skating shoes on and displayed their skill to the judges and to the expectant crowd as well.

The chosen skater out of the hundreds who joined this competition will get or earn the spot of being the country’s representative to the upcoming ISI-Asia Competition which will be held in Malaysia on August 2012.

NIDO FORTIFIED SCIENCE CENTER TOGETHER WITH DISCOVERY CHANNEL SET THE FIRST-EVER URBAN CAMP

                                                               

Have you tried camping before? Maybe some of you do and some of you don't. Do you still remember when you and your friends went on hiking or mountaineering during your younger days or maybe when you were still on your grade school when you are still wearing your boy scout and girl scout attire... where your whole dress was in dark green color…with black wooden carabao head that is use to tie together your green handkerchief…..and a lot more.

What you will notice with those activities is that you still have to go on far away places to have a camp site and build a camp fire just to experience those thrills and excitement... with those towering trees, bushy and grassy surroundings around you, etc.,  but those has been a thing of the past to those who had been a part of the Nido Fortified Science Center and Discovery Channel Urban Camp and I'm grateful that I have been a part of it.

Nido Fortified Science Center together with Discovery Channel set its first-ever Urban Survival Camp not in a bushy, grassy and far away place, but right over here in the main City….at the SM Mall of Asia grass ground to be exact.

                                          

   

It has been a night full of activities…giving the veteran and neophyte campers the excitement and adventure of camping without going out of the noisy and polluted City. There were activities like; stargazing, night photography, outdoor cooking, scientific experiments, bonfire roasting, games, concerts and a lot more.

Being part of this Survival Camp is really a great outdoor experience on my part, not just because its my first time to camp and sleep outside my house, but more importantly the lessons I learned and the fun that I experience in being a part of this memorable event.

SYMANTEC RELEASES ITS INTERNET SECURITY THREAT REPORT

Symantec Corporation recently announced its findings on Internet Security Threat Report, (ISTR) Volume 17, where our country, the Philippines ranked on the 39^th place among the countries that are on Internet threat activities, and just like last year, United States of America still remains on the top of the list. For this reason, Symantec Corporation is urging everyone, not just the government sector, but also the private sector as well to aggressively secure their important files, data or whatever important application and devices they may have from the constant threat such as: virus, mobile threats, malware attacks and others brought by hackers that are spreading like a wildfire on the internet. Aside  from that, Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR) also shows that while the number of vulnerabilities decreased by 20 percent, the number of malicious attacks continued to increase heavily by 81percent on a global basis.

Of all the the statistics that Symantec Corp. has released, what strucked me the most, is its findings with regards to the Most Harmful Websites by categories, and it turned out to be “Religion”. It is used to be pornography sites, but now it goes down to the 3^rd spot and religion took the number one slot. This is something that is really thought-provoking, religion…..that is suppose to be the source of inspiration, godly messages and other faith-building articles, will suddenly turn out to be a tool for the very opposite of what it is suppose to be.

Symantec has made a lot of significant achievements in the past, and just recently, it was able to blocked more than 5.5 billion attacks, that if it were not blocked, the consequences of these attacks are going to be catastrophic in the internet world.

MEET KNORR’S NEW CHEF AMBASSADORS

Knorr recently launched its newest line of chef ambassadors as part of its  continuous commitment of bringing out the best in every dish prepare by every Filipino especially the mothers. With that in mind, Knorr has partnered with over 200 chefs from all over the world and works with them as to how to make the food that we eat everyday to become better not just in taste, but also when it comes to its nutritional value.

Chef Tristan as he present his dish to the media together with Ms. Isa Litton, who served as the host of the Knorr’s new chef ambassadors launching, who herself is a Knorr user and the one who cooks in her home.

 


Chef Tristan’s Sinigang na Bulalo –Chef Tristan presented his special and unique delicacy which is Sinigang na Bulalo. This is something that is unheard to many of us because what we normally hear is Nilagang Bulalo and not Sinigang na Bulalo. Nonetheless, Chef Tristan justified his Sinigang na Bulalo by the outcome of its taste where he made a little twist on it by making it  “maasim”. In cooking this food, Chef Tristan put together onions, achuete, calamansi juice, seedless grapes, cabbage leaves and not to mention, Knorr 2-in-1 Sinigang Mix that makes his twist for this delicacy a click. 

Chef Tristan Encarnacion is the son of the famous hairdresser Mr. Jun Encarnacion. Chef Tristan got involved into  the world of cooking during his high school days where he was given a task to put different dishes together, and from that time on his love for cooking continuous to flourish up to this very day.

 

Escabeche by Chef Dianne-Chef Dianne presented her mouth-watering and good-to-the-eye Escabeche with one big whole pan-fried Lapu-Lapu on a big plate minced with garlic, ginger, onion, carrots, red bell pepper, etc. and of course, Chef Dianne used Knorr all-in-one cube and Knorr Meaty Seasoning to bring out the savory taste of the fish. 

Chef Dianne De La Cruz works as the innovation and technical management chef of Uniliver Philippines and has been involved in the launching of Casa Roces restaurant inside Malacanang compound. 

Pinakbet ni Marvin-This is one of the specialties of actor/chef Marvin Agustin where he put together different veggies such as kang kong, ampalaya, okra, kalabasa, tomatoes, garlic, sitaw, talong together with a liempo that is cooked as lechon kawali, and instead of putting the usual bagoong, chef Marvin put Knorr shrimp cube to savor the taste of his Pinakbet.

Chef Martin’s Organic Sagada Rice Paella with Seafoods-Chef Martin Jickain a former model turned chef because of his passion for cooking…Chef Martin as he cooked one of his favorites…the Sagada Rice Paella with Seafoods. It’s a mixture of special sagada rice with chicken breast that were cut into pisces, chorizo sausage, shrimps, boiled eggs, onion, lemon, olives, mussels and of course, with Knorr chicken cube and Knorr shrimp cube that he uses to bring about the fine taste of his Sagada Rice Paella with Seafoods.

Chef Jayp’s Lechon Kawali with Roasted Pumpkin Gata-Chef Joseph Patrick Anglo, JP as he is normally called by his peers is an Ilonggo and whenever he cooks, he always uses that Ilonggo twist on his food that he cooks and prepares. What Chef Jayps prepared during the Knorr launching of its Chef Ambassadors was Lechon Kawali with Roasted Pumpkin Gata. Here, he combined the crispiness of the Lechon, the creaminess of the gata, mushiness of the mushrooms, softness of the Tofu, tenderness of the of snowpeas and greenbeans into one delicious dish. And as usual, Chef JP used Knorr ginatang mix, Knorr chicken cubes and Knorr sinigang mix to enhance the flavor of his special delicacy.
