FIFA WORLD CUP 2010
FIFA (FOOTBALL) WORLD CUP 2010
Its football season once again, as football fanatics all over the world celebrates the announcement of FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 that will take place in South Africa this year. And here in the Philippines, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), in partnership with the Philippine Art Central for Community Empowerment Inc. (PACCEI) displayed their great interest in this sport by holding the “DISKI NIGHT” with disk dancing and an art auction that will benefit the Football for Peace and Hope program of Philippine Art Central, that was held last recently in One Esplanade, Mall of Asia Complex, in Pasay City.
PACCEI is a non-profit organization committed in promoting Filipino artists locally and abroad, while at the same time supporting football and educational programs for Filipino children. It also aims to empower the Filipino youth through programs like Football for Peace and Hope.
Football for Peace and Hope is a grassroots character-building sports program which aims to help Filipino children of families below the poverty line, regardless of religious affiliation, who are between the ages of 6 to 18 years old, through football workshops and training programs, in conjunction with values formation classes. The program offers a fun, healthy and wholesome outlet for the youth to engage in, as well as a stepping stone towards initiating a new life. At the moment, the program is sponsoring more than 500 children in Bukidnon, Bohol, and Quezon City.
Philippine Football Federation was organized with the purpose of aiding and achieving its goal of bringing football to the farthest corners of the Philippines and for bringing joy and hope to the less fortunate children. Text and photos by Ricky Castillo
